Last year I lost someone very dear to me, my adopted Mom. She was the strongest woman I knew and always put on a smile and enjoyed life to the fullest. From traveling around the world, singing with the choir, playing piano, and exploring near and wide. She was a literal gypsy at heart who finally took the last amazing journey of her life...beyond. She never complained throughout her battles with cancer..she bravely fought and defeated it three times. But, it would be the first cancer she had that would come back to claim her. Thyroid cancer, even though her thyroid had been removed many years before, somehow a cell managed to grow and invade her body.
Mother taught us to dance in the rain, never to let sorrow drag us down for too long. To greet each new day with a smile and know it was a whole new chapter to be written in our life. So, it's for her that I relay, that I hope another will benefit from the research the American Cancer Society and other great scientists are working on to find a cure for all of us. RIP Mom, your legacy will live on.
