Night Oil Burning

Sitting along by candlelight, I keep hearing a strange sound, almost like a whimper, a scratching sound at times, making me a bit nervous. Finally, I pick up my lantern to go investigate and nearly fall flat on my face as I trip on...something. Lowering my gaze, there is a tiny little black form and upon closer inspection, a sweet little puppy has made her way into our cabin! I am taking her home with us in the morning but for now, need to get this little one fed and warm.
