Blogger Challenge 2 - LoveFest

It was a dark and misty morning when the inhabitants of the town emerged from their warm comfortable beds. It was also to be the last morning for many of them. Strange sightings were reported about the outer fringes of the town, near the Borden home. Some claimed to see tentacles in odd places, others shrugged it off as part of that family's peculiarities. Perhaps it was a new way to decorate.
But such things like the fire in the bowl that never seemed to die down, and the ever spouting fountain, both boasting those strange tentacles from them.
Even the quite park bench and end table seemed to have been replaced by these odd decorations.

And some swore they saw demonic forces at work within the trees on the properties, even some claiming eyes and mouths were glowing. And others reported plants growing from the ground with an alien look to them, their buds resembling eyes.

Someone had erected a strange building on the land with a statue that seemed to depict a priest, perhaps a god, or something pouring water into the oceans and tentacles reaching up towards him.

But the building itself was the oddest, with drawings upon it and a very strange lamp within, or..whatever it was. One hysterical boy even came racing out of the building in tears, swearing up and down that the 'thing' had opened it's eye and looked right at him!

Upon further investigation, no proof was found of the mysterious eye, but a strange window was discovered which appeared to look out at the grounds, but not anyplace recognizable beyond it's view.

The Borden house itself was wrapped inside a blanket of that thick fog, adding to the mystery of the new appearance to the grounds.

And on the other side of the house was yet another strange new building which was empty other than a very weird statue within. It appeared to be an octopus sitting on top of something. What was the sudden fascination with these creatures?
It was decided to approach the family and question them about this fascination. Nobody had seen the parents for days in town and they felt it best to check in on them anyway. So, a few brave townsfolk and I climbed the steps and knocked upon the front door.
Not a sound was heard as we waited by the front door, no footsteps or voices to give any indication that anyone was at home. So, I reached up to knock once more and as I did so, the door slid ajar. Odd, another strange piece of furniture in the foyer, and still no answer when we called out, Hello?!"

Stepping inside, ever cautious of any intruders, I motioned silently to the men to take different directions, fearing the worst might greet us. But, I only noticed an empty house, a few strange artistic elements, not really a theme to this house at all. More of a bit of old and new and eccentric.
Large stained glass windows in a corner..
Even a large snake terrarium but one peculiar sign was the one in the corner, with some strange winged beast upon it. It appeared to be a recruitment poster, but with wording that wasn't of any language I recognized before.
Still nothing too unusual to be found, chairs set up as if someone was having a small meeting at some point. Still no sound of feet or voices, nor sign of any life within, well besides the snake that is.
With a nod to each other, we decided to make our way upstairs, there was obviously nobody downstairs to greet us. The stairs creaked and the air had an odd heaviness to it.
Stepping into the larger of the three rooms upstairs, I blinked and realized we had come into some sort of laboratory. This must be were Dr Bordon conduction is aquatic studies. Books, and large file cabinets, filing boxes and all sorts of different sealife kept in jars and specimen tanks. Even an old bomb that had been dug up from the depths lay off to one side. If it wasn't such a critical situation , I might have enjoyed exploring in here a bit more. There was even one specimen labeled "Mermaid tail" was that for real?!
It would be in the next room that we finally found signs of life, little Miss Borden stood at the window gazing out. She didn't move even a muscle, no indication that she was even aware of our presence. So, I stepped forwards, concern crossing my brow and as I reached out to touch her shoulder, she turned about to face us.
Emitting the worst sound ever from her mouth where, something disturbing was protruding. More coming out of her head and brow and holding back a scream of terror all my own, I stumbled backwards into one others. We froze there in terror as she began to stumble closer. Holding in her hands, a bleeding heart.. a HUMAN heart!
