Forgotten Melody

She stood in the dim lighting, holding the skull of a former lover, speaking to him as if still alive. She had baked up some cupcakes and put them on the table along with the precious snowglobe he had given her. She didn't seem to pay any attention to the fact the rats were climbing up to take a taste of the sweets or of the spiders and their webs who had encased her piano. They were her ever loyal companions in a bleak world.
