The Forsaken Pond

It was overgrown with weeds, an small boat, long ago abandoned, still managed to float upon the surface of the waters which nearly glowed with the greenish tint of the flora within. In the distance, the splash of a large animal, probably an alligator, was heard and the soft sounds of birds in the trees greeted the lone visitor as she approached. The villagers feared the pond, claiming it was haunted, that dark beings lived up there, But she found it to only be lonely, forsaken much like she had been and somehow found a bond with the place. Even the animals would chance to greet her once in a while as she settled down quietly upon the dead grass and enjoyed some quiet solitude.
